At SC Atelier, we are dedicated to the care, conservation, and preservation of fine art and historical objects. Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure that artworks and cultural artifacts withstand the test of time, retaining their beauty, integrity, and historical significance for future generations.
Founded by Sahar Sharif, an experienced art conservator and museum specialist, and Carl Adler, an urban planner and historic sites restoration specialist, SC Atelier brings together expertise from multiple disciplines to provide comprehensive conservation solutions.

Paintings

From centuries-old oil paintings to contemporary acrylic works, we provide tailored conservation treatments to address issues such as surface dirt, discoloration, cracking, flaking, and structural weaknesses. Our approach balances scientific precision with artistic sensitivity to restore artworks while maintaining their historical integrity.

Works on Paper

Delicate works on paper—including drawings, prints, manuscripts, and photographs— require specialized care to address deterioration caused by light exposure, acidity, and environmental fluctuations. We offer professional cleaning, deacidification, tear repairs, and mounting solutions that enhance stability while preserving original details.

Glass & Ceramics

Our team carefully stabilizes, repairs, and restores glass and ceramic objects, including stained glass windows, decorative artifacts, and archaeological finds. We employ advanced techniques to reconstruct broken pieces, reduce visible cracks, and restore missing elements.

For institutions seeking grant funding, we recommend reaching out at least three months in advance to discuss project requirements.

Condition Reports & Photo-Documentation

We offer detailed condition reports, complete with high-quality photographic documentation, to support insurance coverage, acquisition decisions, and sales of collection materials. If you are considering purchasing an artwork or historical object, we can assess its condition with the owner’s permission and provide recommendations for necessary treatments.

Collections Care

While collections care recommendations are often included in our surveys, we also provide standalone advisory services. We assist institutions, private collectors, and dedicated volunteers in implementing best practices for preservation, handling, and storage to ensure the longevity of their collections.

Exhibitions

From object surveys to treatment estimates, we support exhibition development at every stage. Our expertise includes advising on optimal lighting levels, recommending conservation-grade display materials, and ensuring safe framing and housing solutions for exhibited works.

Digitization

We provide high-quality digitization services for artworks, historical documents, and photographs. Flat works up to A3 size are professionally scanned, while larger items are photographed using a copystand and digital imaging techniques. We also facilitate highresolution scans and digital reproductions in collaboration with trusted service providers.
