In-Studio Consultation
We charge 365 AED for the first thirty minutes of consultation time. After that, a charge of 625 AED per hour will apply. Please note, consultation fees do not apply toward the cost of treatment. During consultations, we will assess the condition, materials, and age of your object. This may also include an oral cost estimate, and notes may be taken to aid in the preparation of a condition report and treatment proposal. If applicable, a separate condition report fee will be charged for objects left at SC Atelier. All consultations are by appointment only.
On-Site Consultation
Time will be billed at the studio hourly rate, with the consultation fee and any potential condition report or treatment proposal fee due before or at the time of consultation, depending on prior arrangement with SC Atelier associates.
Condition Report & Treatment Proposal
The time needed for condition reports or treatment proposals varies by object but generally takes between 1 to 1½ hours for examination and testing, billed at the studio hourly rate. Larger projects or insurance claims may require payment upfront for the condition report or proposal.
Payment & Insurance
Payment Terms
A signed treatment proposal, accompanied by an advance payment of 50% of the total treatment cost, is required to schedule work. Once treatment begins, you are committed to the proposal. If a signed proposal and advance payment are not received within three months of sending the proposal, a storage fee per day will apply. This charge will begin the day after the three-month period ends.
Insurance
All objects must be insured while in the care of SC Atelier. While we are not an insurer, your object may be covered under SC Atelier’s fine art insurance policy upon request, subject to the value of the item. The owner must ensure that their insurance policy includes a waiver of subrogation.
Storage Fees
Completed work not removed from SC Atelier within thirty days will be subject to a storage fee per day, starting on the thirty-first day. If other arrangements are made during the treatment or grace period, storage fees may be waived.
Abandoned Property
If an item remains unclaimed one year after the completion of treatment or if the treatment proposal was not authorized, we reserve the right to consign the property to a licensed auction house to recover any unpaid fees (treatment, storage, or related costs). Any proceeds from the auction will first cover the outstanding fees, with any remaining balance
forwarded to the owner at the last known address. Alternatively, we may ship the item back to the owner at our discretion. It is the owner’s responsibility to update contact information with SC Atelier.
Conveyance of Artworks
SC Atelier may assist with transporting smaller, low-value items for an additional fee, based on time spent. Larger or high-value objects should be handled by trained art movers. Please contact us for recommendations. We do not accept delivery or shipment of objects to SC Atelier without prior arrangement and tracking information.
Final Payment & Methods
Clients will be notified once treatment is complete and invoiced for the remaining balance. Final payment is due within 30 days of receiving the invoice or on the day of item pick-up, whichever is sooner. Late payments will incur a 1.5% fee per 30-day period. We accept checks, cash, bank transfers and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express). A 3 % service fee applies for credit card payments, therefore a bank transfer is ideal.
